Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There are currently three-therapies (anma, acupuncture, moxibustion and massage) that have been considered suitable occupations for visually impaired people, and vocational education is still available at schools for the blind (special schools for the visually impaired) throughout the country. The three-therapies are physical therapies based on Chinese medicine that developed in ancient China and was introduced to Japan with Buddhism in the 6th century. This physical therapy treats diseases by stimulating specific sites on the body surface to regulate physiological-pathological conditions in the organism. These specific sites are called ' acupuncture'. For this reason, blind schools offer courses on acupuncture to learn knowledge. As the nomenclature of the acupuncture is closely related to their location, function, and form, it is essential to understand the Chinese characters for the acupuncture. Due to the special nature of learning Chinese characters for the visually impaired, this study developed a web application that can output acupuncture characters using the pin arrangement function on a point diagram display to support the learning of acupuncture characters for the visually impaired.
