Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To prevent traffic accidents, it's crucial to address human factors that contribute to them. This can be achieved by monitoring the psychological state of drivers, such as urgency or inattention, and providing appropriate warnings. One approach to monitoring drivers' psychological state is to observe their in-lane driving position, as it can reflect their intentional behavior and is less susceptible to the surrounding traffic condition. We conducted an experiment to clarify the characteristics of the in-lane driving position of drivers during normal driving, using an experimental vehicle. The results showed that drivers tend to drive on the right side of the road in right curves and on the left side in left curves, and that there is a noticeable individual bias in lane position, regardless of whether they are driving on straight roads or on curves.
