Effectiveness of Multi-Hop D2D Communication in Mobile Cooperative Cache

Abstract(in English) In recent years, Internet traffics have been increasing significantly with the rise of VOD and the increase in the quality of video content. In order to reduce the load on base stations that receive request from many mobile users, a distributed cooperative caching techniques based on device-to-device(D2D) communication have been proposed, in which a neighboring mobile is used as a cache server without going through a base station. In addition, a method to cache contents in chunks and a method to subdivide data by image quality layer have also been proposed. On the other hand, our previous works only consider single-hop D2D communication and do not utilize multi-hop D2D communication. In this research, we report the effect of using multi-hop D2D communication with our proposed cache control method in the mobile environment. By adding diversity to the cache contents in the communication range of D2D communication, we can reduce the load on base stations.
