Abstract(in English) | This study proposes a low-bit image restoration method based on a loop-unrolled network of Iterative Shrinkage Thresholding Algorithm (ISTA). ISTA, which performs optimization using the proximity gradient descent, has an advantages of high interpretability and the ability to approach an exact solution with a simple iteration of operations. However, it has a problem in terms of the amount of calculations due to the fact that a lot of operations are performed iteratively. In order to speed up and reduce the number of calculations, a loop-unrolled structure is adopted to enable restoration with a small number of iteration steps and to enable feed-forward and pipeline processing. In addition, we propose an implementation using fixed-point arithmetic to achieve higher speed in hardware implementation. Through simulation of image restoration and comparison with loop-processing ISTA, we confirm that loop-unrolled ISTA is capable of comparable restoration with fewer operations and higher throughput. |
