A Proposal of Illuminant Estimation Method Based on Specular Reflection Detection Employing Clustering Algorithm and Halation Removal

Abstract(in English) The unnatural color casts of the image is caused by an illuminant color. Recently, a lot of illuminant estimation methods for removing the color casts have been proposed. However, the conventional methods have a problem of insufficient removal of the color casts in the case where the input image contains the halation and/or the regions uneffected by the illuminant color. In this report, we propose the illuminant estimation method based on specular reflection detection employing clustering algorithm and halation removal. In the proposed method, the halation is removed by using saturation and brightness components of the image. The illuminant color is estimated by using the clustering algorithm. Through the experiment using various color images, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified.
