Abstract(in English) | With the development of information technology, surveillance cameras equipped in the city area can be managed via the Internet. Once the device is hacked by a malicious party, private information may be leaked. To cope with this problem, it is necessary to protect the privacy of people who appear in the images captured by surveillance cameras. However, face detection using Haar-Cascade and MTCNN may cause false negative depending on the camera angle, and the detection accuracy also highly affected by distortion caused by cameras with wide-angle lenses. In this study, we propose a hierarchical algorithm by using OpenPose's face detection and keypoints based on skeletal estimation. First, we try to detect faces, and estimate the head position by extending the region of the face. Next, we try to detect keypoints near the face detected by OpenPose's skeleton estimation. If the keypoints near the face cannot be detected, the head position is estimated from the other keypoints such as shoulders and neck. Our simulation results confirm that the proposed method can reduce the false negative rate in various directions compared to the head detection using Haar-Cascade and MTCNN. |
