Direct Read Transfer Method for Disaggregated Storage System using NVMe-oF

Abstract(in English) In these days, there is a need for disaggregated IT infrastructure that can flexibly expand computing resource and storage capacity according to system requirements. Disaggregated storage system allows the storage drive enclosure(FBOF) to be separated from storage controller. In such system, challenges are delay of read latency and increasing network cost according to the number of nodes due to network data transfer between each node. In this research, we propose direct read method that directly transfers read data from FBOF to host server. Our method allows that read latency is improved and read throughput is scaled according to the number of FBOF without increasing the number of storage controller.
