Abstract(in English) | Since mobile terminals which can use multiple communication media are emerging, we can improve the performance of segmented file download by utilizing their total bandwidth. Previous research has shown that we are able to perform segmented file download at high speed using multiple TCP connections (parallel TCP). Furthermore, MPTCP, which enables the use of multiple paths, has been used for segmented file download in the previous research. The download performance using MPTCP was compared with that of the parallel TCP. However, it could not outperform the download performance using parallel TCP and could not avoid head-of-line blocking because it assumed the use of a single MPTCP connection in the previous research. Therefore, in this research, we evaluated the performance of parallel MPTCP, which is a combination of MPTCP and parallel TCP, by comparing with the performance of parallel TCP for segmented file download. As a result of the evaluation, it was found that the download performance of parallel TCP was superior in most of the conditions tested, although there were some network conditions in which parallel MPTCP was superior. |
