Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In Japan, under the influence of the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), various face masks with chromatic colors are becoming popular. As a reason for this trend, it is considered that Japanese people want to be demanding the colored face masks that harmonize with their faces. However, it is unclear that how hue, saturation, and brightness of face masks effect impressions of our faces. This study conducted a subjective evaluation of 35 colored masks to elucidate affective efficacy of face masks with chromatic color. As a result, similar to our previous study, it was shown that the brightness of the face mask has a strong positive correlation with impressions such as `Kawaii,' and the saturation of that has a weak positive correlation with impressions such as `Childish.' Furthermore, as new findings, it was shown that the face masks with neutral colors (that are produced by mixing pure color with gray) give the impressions of `Refined,' `Conservative,' `Intellectual,' and `Adult.' Also, it was shown that the colored face masks average the personality of the faces and give a strong impression of their colors. |
