Person Authentication based on Palm Images Using CNN

Abstract(in English) While conventional biometric authentication extracts geometric features from images, this paper proposes a personal authentication method that identifies a person’s palm image without extracting geometric features using convolutional neural networks (CNN), which are considered superior for image recognition. In this paper, the batch sizes representing the amount of data partitioning are 32, 64, 128 and 256, and image sizes are 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 pixels. We evaluate the accuracy of authentication by processing images captured by a smartphone into gray scaled and edge-extracted images, which are then divided into machine learning images and evaluation images.
