Abstract(in English) | Today's social networking services (SNS) have become an important infrastructure for communication with others, including information dissemination and exchange. However, online social networks (OSNs) formed by SNSs often experience explosive user dynamics, such as online flame wars. The effects of such user dynamics extend to the real world, making them a serious social problem. To understand the user dynamics on OSNs, the oscillation model has been proposed based on the first principle that the effects of interactions between users propagate on an OSN at finite speeds. Based on the oscillation model, we have observed the temporal changes in the intensity of user activity when external stimuli are applied to random users on a network and found that the intensity of user activity temporarily increases, exhibiting a spike-like behavior. However, external stimuli in real networks are not random, and users with more links are likely to receive external stimuli more frequently. In this study, we show that when external stimuli are applied with a probability proportional to the nodal degree of the network, the intensity of user activity may be significantly stronger than when stimuli are applied randomly. In addition, we consider the cause of this phenomenon in terms of the relationship between the location of nodes receiving external stimuli and the eigenvectors of the network. |
