High Temporal Resolution MOS Estimation Method using Series of Packets

Abstract(in English) Network control based on Quality of Experience(QoE), which is an indicator of the actual experience quality of users, is becoming important because applications with various requirements are used in a mixed manner. As a first step of network control based on QoE, we discussed a method to estimate Mean Opinion Score(MOS), which is a QoE indicator, from series of packets acquired by network devices. Conventional studies have estimated MOS using packet statistics such as packet number and throughput. These studies cannot estimate MOS frequently because they estimate it at the time intervals of video segments. In this paper, we propose MOS estimation method using series of packets in real time. Experimental results show that the coefficient of determination of proposed MOS estimation method is 0.854.
