A Study on Coverage Extension Using Cooperative Relay Transmission in Uplink V2N Communication

Abstract(in English) Recently, cooperative relay transmission has been considered as a technology to extend the coverage of vehicular to network (V2N) communications. However, the transmission efficiency of the system has been degraded by the fact that relay terminals cannot transmit their own information at the same time in the cooperative relay transmission method. To tackle this problem, in this paper, we propose a new relay transmission method that uses feedback information of success/failure reception of base stations for uplink transmission to select the relay terminal with better propagation channel conditions for relay transmission, thereby avoiding the transmission efficiency reduction of the entire system as much as possible. Numerical simulations show that the proposed method improves the transmission quality for distant users and is suitable for coverage expansion.
