Fractional Delay Implementation Focusing on Relative Delay Difference

Abstract(in English) In software defined radios, it is sometimes desired to compensate for a fixed time difference that remains between multiple signal paths that are phase-synchronized. This paper describes the results of verifying the feasibility of a delay compensation method that adds group delay to the signal path of the baseband signal and sets the relative delay difference to a desired value. In this method, the impulse response obtained by sampling the $rm{sinc}( )$ function is used to generate the group delay of arbitrary granularity. Then, based on the error criterion proposed in this paper, the realizable bandwidth and the amount of delay are clarified as the relative delay difference. Furthermore, simulation results show that the equivalent discrete-time impulse response of a two-ray fading model may contain non-causal components when a delayed wave arrives at a time that is non-integer multiple of the sampling period.
