Transmission Performance of Collaborative MIMO Systems Utilizing Multiple Detection Terminals

Abstract(in English) This paper deals with a terminal-collaborated MIMO reception technique, in which nearby terminals collaborate to receive MIMO signals. In this scheme, MIMO signals from a base station (BS) are shared among nearby mobile terminals and used for decoding. We examine in detail a scheme of terminal collaboration that uses multiple detection terminals in a receiving terminal collaboration group to use multiple decision results. In this scheme, only the decision results are transmitted among the detection terminals, which reduces the number of received signal waveforms transmitted by the entire collaboration group, and may improve the transmission performance while controlling the amount of collaboration traffic. Therefore, we evaluate the effects of detection terminals on transmission performance and the amount of collaboration traffic by computer simulation. In addition, we also evaluated the transmission performance when a dedicated helper terminal is assumed for each detection terminal, whereas in the conventional system, the helper terminal that transfers the received signal waveform to the detection terminal is shared by all the detection terminals. Based on these results, we propose a scheme of configuring two independent terminal collaboration groups according to their distance.
