Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Eye blink is an important source for detecting the mental state such as emotion and arousal level. Features of eye blinks (timing, speed, magnitude) can be easily detected by measuring EOG (electrooculogram). However, placement of electrodes is needed to measure EOG, and it restrains user’s activities during measurements. It is required to find alternative methods to detect eye blinks with less restrictions. In this study, the method to detect features of eye blink from captured images around user’s eye by using a video camera was tested, and the performances were evaluated by comparing the method using EOG measurement.
