A Study on Applying Multi-receiver System in Meteor Burst Communications

Abstract(in English) Meteor burst communication(MBC) is an over-the-horizon communication using the reflection phenomenon of low VHF radio waves by ionized gas (meteor bursts) left behind meteors. In this paper, we propose to apply a multi-receiver system to the MBC and consider three methods for combining the reception of each receiver, individual reception, soft value combining, and log-likelihood ratio combining methods. We show the communication performance of the multi-receiver system with the three combining methods in MBC, by taking account of the direction of each receiving antenna and the position distribution of meteor bursts.
