360-Degree Video Adaptive Streaming over NDN

Abstract(in English) In recent years, the virtual reality (VR) market has been expanding rapidly and is expected to expand further in the future. However, the data size of 360-degree video used in VR is larger than that of ordinary 2D video, making efficient delivery over the Internet a major challenge. In this study, we propose a method to transmit 360-degree video without network congestion using Named Data Networking (NDN), which streamlines content delivery. By combining buffer-based adaptation of SVC-encoded tile-based 360-degree video streaming with a bandwidth estimation method, we aim to achieve high-quality streaming while avoiding network congestion. We perform simulations incorporating changes in available bandwidth and compare the results to verify the performance of bandwidth estimation and 360-degree video bitrate adaptation over NDN.
