Timeout ciphers based on ID-based cryptography

Abstract(in English) Encryption technology has become indispensable in the information society, and although encryption technology is used for electronic files such as PDFs, these encryptions are generally based on authentication with a password. However, if electronic files can be viewed by setting a time limit, the range of application is considered to be large. While there are time-release encryption schemes that allow decryption after a specified time, as of 2022 there are no encryption schemes that allow decryption after a specified time has elapsed. In this paper, we propose a method to make various electronic resource files private after a certain time has elapsed. The proposed method is based on the ID-based encryption algorithm, which is the basis of the time-release ciphers, and proposes a time-out algorithm (hereinafter referred to as "time-out cipher"). It is confirmed that the proposed method can be decrypted before the expiration date and cannot be decrypted after the expiration date (timeout). As a result, it was confirmed that encryption and decryption of the timeout ciphers are possible or not depending on the time, and that decryption is not possible for 10 years after the expiration date, thus clarifying the effectiveness of the proposed method.
