Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Service Function Chaining (SFC) is a technology that provides services by routing specific traffic through a Network Function. Traditional SFC requires a proxy and dedicated equipment. By implementing the Network Function on a router, the function can be deployed and scaled according to demand. In this research, we proposed ``Inline Service Function Chaining'' to realize SFC on routers. We implemented End.AN and a network function using DPDK to achieve the following three requirements for Inline Service Function Chaining: (1) deployment of a network function in a router, (2) deployment in an existing IP network, and (3) latency requirement within about 16 ms. To evaluate End.AN, we conducted a performance test and a demonstration in a wide-area network, targeting the switching function for 8K video traffic. As a result, the maximum increased latency of End.AN is 7.7 ?s. We demonstrates 8K video transmission with End.AN in 2023 Sapporo Snow Festival.
