| Abstract(in English) | Antenna array calibration is indispensable for accurate direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation because mutual coupling and amplitude/phase error on antenna array cause a significant error in the MUSIC spectrum. Although a virtual array calibration method using mutual coupling matrix including non-existent elements enables precise array calibration, it requires a large number of reference data sets to find many unknown variables. On the other hand, the array calibration methods based on symmetrical mutual coupling were proposed to reduce the number of unknown variables. An array calibration model suitable for the symmetrical mutual coupling was reported in our previous article. This paper proposes an array calibration method combined with the virtual array, the symmetrical mutual coupling, and the appropriate calibration model for precise calibration by a small number of unknown variables. As a result of 28-GHz band experiment, the DOA estimation error and MUSIC spectrum were improved by the virtual array on the basis of symmetrical mutual coupling and showed the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
