Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Vection (visually induced self-motion perception) often occurs at some time after the visual stimulus presentation. The elapsed time until the observer first perceives self-motion is called vection onset latency. Previous studies have shown that prime visual displays could pre-activate the observers’ visual processing system, which leads to a visual dominance. Then the latency in the immediately following vection-inducing display would be reduced. The present study aims to investigate the prime effect of dynamic random motion and vection-inducing displays (leftward and rightward dots motion), with a static dot screen as a control condition.
