Abstract(in English) | In the mode-division multiplexing transmission, although the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) processing is required in the digital domain after reception to compensate the crosstalk due to the mode coupling and the differential mode delay (DMD), the computational complexity increases according to the number of spatial modes and the amount of the DMD. In this study, we propose a novel method for the mode equalization in the optical frequency domain using a spatial light modulator (SLM). In this method, an optical signal is split into different angles for each wavelength by a diffraction grating and is spatially modulated for enabling the mode equalization in the optical frequency domain without the photoelectric conversion. In this paper, we confirmed the basic operation of the proposed method and then the relation among the resolution of the SLM, the resolution of the diffraction grating, and the amount of the DMD was investigated with the numerical analysis. |
