Abstract(in English) | 4-core Fan-in/Fan-out (FIFO) for outdoor use was examined. The space division multiplexing (SDM) transmission technology using multi-core fiber (MCF) is expected as the technology which exceeds the capacity limit of existing optical fiber transmission line. FIFO which connects MCF and SMF is indispensable for the construction of SDM system using MCF. When the MCF is introduced into an access network, it is assumed that the FIFO is located in a closure installed outdoors, and it is required to be reliable enough for outdoor use. Optical performance with environmental and mechanical properties of the FIFO were evaluated. It is confirmed that the developed FIFO has sufficient characteristics to be installed in closures used in access network systems. |
