[Short Paper] Response evaluation of a UHF RFID micro tag

Abstract(in English) In this presentation, we report on the response evaluation of a radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag for tracking the behavior of small insects. Extremely small, less than 1 mm square including antenna, tag chips of ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID are commercially available. The readable range of the tag, only a few millimeters from a small RFID reader antenna, is significantly shorter than that of conventional UHF RFID tags, up to a few meters. The readable conditions depending on the position and orientation of the tag with respect to the reader antenna determine the design requirements for the experimental environment in which insect behavior is tracked.
