Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Highly-sensitive radio astronomy observations receive the faint radio waves from celestial bodies in the Universe, and provide us with a variety of new knowledge such as the birth of stars and planets, the formation and evolution of galaxies from the early Universe, and the substances that lead to life. Radio astronomy observations, on the other hand, are extremely vulnerable to interference from man-made radio waves due to their high sensitivity. Man-made radio waves contribute to the development of people's lives and society through applications such as mobile phones and various radio communications. Therefore, as stipulated in the Constitution of the International Telecommunication Union, radio astronomy and the use of man-made radio waves must pool their wisdom to find a way to coexist. In this talk, I will introduce efforts toward the coexistence of radio astronomy and the use of radio waves from aircrafts and satellites.
