Abstract(in English) | Container is an execution environment isolation technology for Linux. By distributing container images that consolidate files for applications, it is possible to use an execution environment that has necessary libraries, and updates can be easily performed by transferring the latest image. However, container images include tens or hundreds of megabytes of data and require large amounts of network resources. Container images need to be updated quickly to avoid negative effects on services, it requires time to transfer and deploy container images in environments where network resources are restricted. In this paper, we propose a method to speed up image updating in such environments by reducing the data size required for image updating using binary delta encoding. We confirmed that the proposed method is effective for container images that contain a wide variety of files except for some files, and that the data size required for updating can be reduced to 5-40% of that of an existing method. We also confirmed that the performance degradation of the application in the container by using the proposed method is limited and acceptable. |
