Abstract(in English) This paper describes a design method for thin dielectric lenses for millimeter-wave antennas using high dielectric constant materials. In the millimeter-wave region of the 76-GHz band used for automobile radar and other applications, the antenna systems are becoming smaller, and the dielectric lenses that are loaded on the antennas are also required to be smaller and thinner. In this study, we focus on the wavelength-shortening effect of high dielectric constant materials. Because a propagation distance of about one wavelength can be maintained within the high dielectric constant material, it is possible to develop thin dielectric lenses with a large refractive index. To design thin lenses, the topology optimization using the normalized Gaussian function network (NGnet) is introduced. Since reflections and losses between the media around the radiating element may not be negligible when high dielectric constant materials are used, we also attempt to design for the case of gradient-functional materials using multi-NGnet.
