Abstract(in English) | In a cloud computing environment with networked Virtual Machines~(VMs) and networked physical hosts, we proposed a traffic estimation scheme based on compressed sensing~(CS), where traffic volumes between all pairs of VMs~(Virtual Machines) are estimated from transmitted and received traffic volumes of VMs. In this study, in order to avoid congestion at NICs~(Network Interface Cards) in physical hosts, we propose a VM placement scheme to assign a physical host to each VM according to estimated traffic volumes. In the proposed scheme, traffic volumes passing through NICs and within the physical hosts are calculated from estimated traffic volumes, and the optimal VM placement is determined by solving an optimization problem with these variances. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme with simulation experiments. |
