Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper compares sensing of indoor communication environments using the beam search method in millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications and sensing using the results of arrival angle estimation using a linear microphone array and acoustic wave, particularly for object location estimation. MmWaves are highly linear and, therefore, vulnerable to blocking of LOS paths. Estimating a moving object's position helps achieve high-quality communications because it can predict changes in received power, including obstructions. Therefore, our sensing of moving objects is based on the observations used in mmWave beamforming. The same sensing experiments are performed using acoustic waves, which have different physical properties than radio waves. Experimental evaluations have identified differences in the trends of sensing results.
