Abstract(in English) | Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive and localized stimulation technique for brain tissue, and is used for mapping brain motor functions in preoperative diagnosis for neurosurgery. In order to estimate motor function sites with high accuracy, several studies have been conducted using electromagnetic field analysis with individualized human head models. However, the clinical application of TMS is still difficult because it requires the analysis of a large number of stimulus samples. In this study, we first confirm the effectiveness of our computational procedure by comparing the hotspots at the group level calculated based on the analysis of induced electric fields with those reported in previous studies. We then propose a procedure accurately and quickly estimating the motor functional areas corresponding to two adjacent muscles in the motor cortex. Furthermore, we discuss the magnitude of MEP amplitude required for accurate and fast estimation of the mapping based on a small number of stimulus samples. |
