Abstract(in English) | Optical performance monitoring (OPM) is an attractive approach to minimize margins and maximize the spectral efficiency in optical networks. Higher-order modulation formats are susceptible to system impairments. Therefore, OPM should isolate the specific impairments with high accuracy. The laser characteristics are expected to change due to aging and temperature fluctuations. Consequently, monitoring laser characteristics is essential to effectively utilize high-order modulation formats and highly dense wavelength-division multiplexing. In this paper, we propose a novel method to monitor laser characteristics from modulated signals impaired by various system impairments. Simulations show that laser characteristics can be measured with high accuracy even though signals are seriously contaminated by various system impairments. |
