| 抄録(和) | 言語コミュニケーションの本質は「意味のやり取り」と「意味のあるやり取り」にある。近年の英語教育、特に大学英語教育においては、「英語を英語・言語・外国語として学ぶ」ことよりは「英語を使って何らかの技能を習得し、あるいは専門的な研究分野について学ぶ」ことを重視した EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) / CBI (Content-Based Instruction) / CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) などが注目されているが、英語による講演の聴講やノートテーキング・口頭での質疑応答などのやり取り・プレゼンテーション・サマリーやレポートの作成などの一般的な学習活動がそのまま英語の運用能力向上だけでなく言語知識の拡充にも寄与することについて、経験と事実として明らかであっても、言語の知識と運用の相互作用の観点から理論的に十分に解明されているとは言えない部分がある。1980年代以降、計算機による自然言語処理においても、人間の脳内処理・認知活動の分析においても、「文法」と「語彙」として「制約に基づく」・「素性論理による表現を中核とした」・「情報論的な体系」を前提とすることが一般的となった。Adele Goldberg などによる usage-based construction grammar や Franklin Chang などによる P-chain などの研究などもあるが、EMI / CBI / CLIL や留学などにおける専門的知識・技能の習得過程においては学習内容に関する新たな概念と語彙を偶発的・即時的・瞬時に学習し習得できることが前提となっていることからすると、論理体系として表現される「文法と語彙」を演繹的に駆動する言語処理に、偶発的学習によって得られた語彙・連語・語法・文法についての「連想的知識」がどのように組み込まれるかは自明ではない。 |
| 抄録(英) | The essence of linguistic communication lies in "exchange of meanings" and "meaningful exchanges of messages." In recent years, approaches to language learning such as EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) / CBI (Content-Based Instruction) / CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) are being emphasized. We know, from personal and institutional experiences, that academic activities such as listening to lectures and talks, preparing and giving formal presentation, engaging in discussions and debates, writing essays, academic reports and technical papers lead to enhancing English proficiency and enriching knowledge of language on the part of each learner, but it is not obvious how such learning is achieved in terms of interactions between tacit knowledge of language and its real-time execution in human cognitive capacity. Specifically, knowledge of “grammar” and “vocabulary” and formalized in constraint-based symbolic declarative systems in terms of feature structures that define syntactic categories and are assigned to each lexical item. Despite efforts in usage-based construction grammar by Adel Goldberg and others and cognitive and computational approaches such as P-chain by Franklin Chang and others are promising, there remains room for questions how associative and incidental acquisition of lexical and grammatical knowledge presupposed in EMI / CBI / CLIL and study abroad programs can be possible in real-time. In this presentation, we discuss some of the issues not properly addressed in theoretical terms so far. |
