Abstract(in English) | To extend the communication range aiming for a wireless communication system applicable to IoT society, Bluetooth 5.0 introduces the coded PHY using forward error correction (FEC) technique. Although the coded PHY implements FEC with coding rate of 1/2 or 1/8, resulting in a reduced data transmission rate of 500 kbps respectively 125 kbps, it provides long-distance connection without increasing the transmission power. However, 2.4 GHz unlicensed radio frequency band has been originally designed for Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) apparatus, and the periodic burst man-made noise are emitted from ISM apparatus. As same for wireless communications systems operating at 2.4 GHz-band, the periodic burst man-made noise emitted from ISM apparatus will degrades the performance of coded PHY. In this paper, to discuss the effect of periodic burst noise on the performance of coded PHY and the immunity against periodic burst noise achieved by FEC scheme, we evaluate the performance of coded PHY under the periodic burst man-made noise environment emitted from microwave oven and discuss the effect of periodic man-made noise on the performance of coded PHY. |
