Abstract(in English) | This study discusses providing ground user equipments (UEs) with wireless connectivity via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Compared to ground-to-ground communication, air-to-ground communication offers high probabilities of line-of-sight (LoS) links, and thus it has various promising applications, including reliable communication in high-frequency bands, optical wireless communication, and wireless power transmission. However, some buildings may block the LoS link between UAVs and UEs in urban environments, making it important to take the LoS links into account in their placement. In addition, when using multiple UAVs, it is necessary to consider the effects of interference. Therefore, we formulate a placement optimization problem for UAVs that considers LoS propagation. Then, we compare the performance with that of the case without LoS considerations and evaluated the effects of interference through numerical examples. |
