High-density Optical Fiber Cable using G.654E Fiber

Abstract(in English) In optical cables for long-haul transmission for relay routes, it is required that they have lower loss than normal optical cables. In response to this demand, slotted core cables equipped with rigid ribbons made of ITU-T G.654E fibers have been applied in Japan. On the other hand, from the viewpoint of constructing more efficient optical wiring networks, slotted core cables tend to be replaced by high-density non-slotted core cables. This time, by applying intermittently bonded optical fiber ribbon using G.654E fiber, the non-slotted core cable has been successfully developed, which has low-loss characteristics comparable to those of conventional slotted core cable, while achieving much higher density than the conventional slotted optical cable.
