Abstract(in English) | Voltages of batteries of electric vehicles (EVs) are increasing to 600?800 V. Resonant converters with fixed 1.5x step-up ratio have been proposed as on-board converters to utilize existing 500 V chargers. Meanwhile, multi-phase interleaved converters are known to enhance input/output current capacities for large current during quick charging. However, additional current sensors and feedback control loops are necessary to actively balance multiple phase currents, resulting in increased system cost. This paper proposes a passive current balancing three-phase interleaved resonant converter with 1.5x step-up ratio. Phase currents in the proposed converter are passively balanced thanks to the charge conservation of capacitors. Furthermore, zero-voltage switching (ZVS) achieves high efficiency. The experimental verification using a prototype demonstrated the passive current balancing capability. |
