Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Platinum-plated materials, which are titanium plated with platinum, are widely used as industrial electrodes, but there are many unclear points about their deterioration. In particular, it has been confirmed that the platinum plating disappears earlier than the general consumption rate under fresh water, which is a high-resistance environment. In this study, in order to investigate the degradation mechanism of platinum plating in a freshwater environment, platinum-plated materials or platinum-titanium couple electrodes were subjected to constant-current electrolysis in tap water, and changes in the potential of each specimen were measured over time. The potential was measured by the current interactive method to obtain an accurate potential that does not include the potential error due to solution resistance. As a result, it was found that when electrolysis is performed in fresh water where platinum and titanium coexist, there is a possibility that the potential of titanium becomes noble enough to exceed the breakdown potential of the titanium oxide film. |
