Image Transformation Simulating the Height Change of Wide-angle Ceiling Camera for People Detection

Abstract(in English) In recent years, surveillance cameras have been widely installed inside the buildings. Especially, wide-angle ceiling cameras have an advantage that can cover a wide surveillance area by a single camera. For the images captured by such cameras, we can construct a learning-based people detection system, that surrounds people by slanted rectangles. However, the camera height change causes non-linear image deformation, and the detection performance is significantly degraded. In this study, we propose an image transformation method that simulates the height change of a wide-angle ceiling camera. We confirmed that the detection accuracy is improved for the images captured at different height by applying our method.
