Novel Frame Synchronization of Parallel Transmittion using RGB-LED BPPM

Abstract(in English) The synchronization performance of optical-wireless parallel transmission using RGB-LED based binary pulse position modulation(BPPM) is investigated. BPPM is a modulation method that generates one pulse in either slot according to bit data in a frame consisting of two slots. BPPM demodulates transmitted data by estimating the received pulse position in a frame consisting of two slots. In the perfect frame synchronous state, the probability that only one pulse exists in a frame is 1. If the frame timing is shifted by 1 slot, the probability becomes 1/2.The synchronization method that utilizes this feature has been proposed. In this paper, the average frame retention time and average frame recovery time under optical-wireless transmission conditions are evaluated by theoretical analysis. The results show that there is a trade-off between average frame retention time characteristics and average frame recovery time characteristics.
