Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Examining psychological compatibility with a partner is an extremely important life task before marriage. For its importance, much work has been done on the relationship between couples' psychological traits (e.g., personality and values; PT) and their marital satisfaction, of which findings are applied to commercial services for match making. However, because PT are determined by questionnaires, in which responses usually contain various biases, they have limited predictive utility for marital satisfaction. Given this, we examined predictive utility of brainwave signals, which are free from such biases and known to be correlated with PT. Recruiting 51 married couples, we measured their brainwave similarities (BS) using EEG devices while they watched movies. Experiment results showed that BS measured with a part of movies had significant predictive utility independent of PT determined by questionnaires. On the other hand, we also observed that BS measured with some movies or scenes did not contribute to prediction, i.e., movies and scenes should be carefully selected for accurate prediction.
