Abstract(in English) | Electromagnetic scattering analysis using the point source is the most useful and simple method to evaluate radar performance, especially in imaging such as SAR and ISAR. In this case, we usually employ the point source as an omni-directional very small point scatterer. When calculating the radar image by point sources located on the surrounding outer boundary of the target, the point source modeling cannot sufficiently simulate actual scattering because of the scattering wave to the object inside due to their omni-directivity. In this paper, we propose a new concept that the added directional weighting function to the point source scatterer usually with omni-pattern, which leads a simple and low-cost method especially in radar image. The outside boundary of the radar target can be specifically expressed by an equation or positions of the spatial coordinates. Introducing a local coordinate around the regarding area so that deriving the outward normal vector, the point source can add the directional characteristics such as cosine pattern with arbitrary amplitude and phase information. Thus, it is considered that the analysis accuracy can be improved even with a point scatterer for 3D model that discretizes the actual outer shape of the target while keeping the computational cost relatively low. For the confirmation of this proposed method, we numerically calculate the 2D bistatic model of a conducting cylinder. |
