Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Visible light communication using a light-emitting diode (LED) as a transmitter and an image sensor (camera) as a receiver is called image sensor communication or optical camera communication. The feature of this technology is that it can separate lights from transmitters and ambient lights on the image thanks to the camera's characteristics. This advantage indicates that visible light communication is possible by using the camera even in an environment with a lot of ambient light, such as outdoors. However, since the communication speed of this technology depends on the shutter speed of the camera, it is difficult to achieve a sufficient communication speed for image sensor communication using a low-speed camera. Our previous study developed a ``rotary LED transmitter'' to solve this problem. This transmitter rotates LEDs that send data while blinking, and the receiver camera captures the blinking LEDs as multiple afterimages. Using the captured multiple afterimages, we improve the communication speed of image sensor communication. This paper describes the operating principle of the rotary LED transmitter. In addition, we introduce an online communication experiment system using the rotary LED transmitter and the camera, which is currently under construction. |
