Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Can metrics extracted from recorded conversations serve as markers for different manifestations of schizophrenia? This study analyses audio recordings of interviews between a therapist and three individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia. The patients manifest different aspects of the disorder and exhibit different symptoms (viz. alogia, delusion, hallucination). Recordings are stripped of their linguistic and conceptual information, and are reduced to binary, “content-free” records of speech activity. Results show that the behaviour of the three patients can be differentiated using simple metrics such as the distributions of mutual silence and of speech activity produced by the patient.
