Analysis of airborne acoustic waves generated by nanosecond pulsed laser irradiation to various elastic structures

Abstract(in English) When an elastic structure containing with efficient optical absorber is irradiated with an intense nanosecond pulsed laser beam, strong elastic waves are generated inside the structure and then sound is emitted into the air in contact with the structure. In this study, we report on the results of analyzing the waveforms and intensity of sound waves emitted into the air when an elastic structure confining an optical absorber such as black rubber or black ink with a transparent material is irradiated with a single or multiple pulsed laser beam with a pulse width shorter than 10 ns.
