Abstract(in English) This paper reviews technical trends related to optical networks in 48th European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC2022) held in Basel, Switzerland. To cope with the continuous traffic growth, various technologies exploiting ultra-wideband communication and space-division multiplexing were reported. Also, research results related to software defined networking, system design, telemetry, and optical performance monitoring were presented in a wide variety of sessions from devices to control. Applications of machine learning (ML) technologies have still been a hot topic; however, its trend is shifted to how to reliably use ML technologies in the practical field.
