Abstract(in English) | Potential applications of passive optical networks (PONs) for mobile x-haul transmission have attracted plenty of attention in recent years, to address the continuous increasing of mobile traffic. In this context, it is expected that the fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) will emerge in future access networks, whereby both fixed and mobile access services are provided simultaneously, to reduce the total cost of ownership. However, the upstream transmission for mobile x-haul, especially fronthaul has strict latency and bandwidth requirements. Therefore, a suitable architecture designed for the FMC is essential. In this paper, we focus on the problem of how to design the FMC access network based on two potential architectures proposed in previous works and aim at minimizing the required wavelengths and the transmission latency. We formulated the problem as an integer linear programming (ILP) problem and obtained the lower bound of the solutions of the problem, i.e., the lower bound of the required wavelengths and the shortest latency. We performed numerical analysis on the solutions with various network parameters and the results show that selecting an appropriate architecture leads to great cost savings while satisfying the requirements of both fixed and mobile transmissions. |
