Abstract(in English) | The demand for high-capacity wireless communications is increasing as we move toward the 6G era, which will provide a fully immersive experience through VR/AR/xR, the so-called metaverse. In order to cope with the ever-increasing amount of wireless communications, it is essential to increase the capacity of wireless communications. In particular, increasing the capacity of fronthaul and backhaul is an urgent issue. Orbital angular momentum (OAM) is considered one of the promising technologies for 6G because of its unique property that electromagnetic waves with different modes are orthogonal to each other, enabling high-capacity wireless communications. Therefore, this paper describes the basics with respect to OAM mode multiplexing. In particular, we will start with the method of generating and receiving OAM waves, starting with those using equally spaced circular arrays (UCA), which are being studied by several institutions in Japan, and explain the results of studies on countermeasures against robustness problems caused by beam shape and installation errors, which are obstacles to practical applications. |
