A study on optimization of sanitization system with multiple autonomous robots

Abstract(in English) Since the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic, the demands for disinfecting indoor environments have increased. In this paper, we develop a system that uses multiple automated robots to sanitize indoor environments with the optimized cost of sanitization and the reduced risk of infection. The proposed approach using multiple robots can reduce the time costs for disinfecting. First, we formulate an optimization problem to minimize the cost of sanitizing a specified area. We then propose a heuristic method to solve the formulated optimization problem and show that the proposed method can obtain the solution for sanitizing the given area at a lower cost than the conventional methods. We apply the proposed approach to disinfecting a real indoor environment and demonstrate the optimized robot behaviors.
