[Poster Presentation] Personal authentication method using thermal and visible light images of periocular regions

Abstract(in English) In recent years, as it has become more common for people to go out wearing masks, there are more and more situations in which face recognition cannot be applied, and methods for personal authentication using features extracted from the periocular have attracted attention. However, conventional periocular recognition methods mainly use visible light images, and there is a concern that the accuracy may be degraded by lighting conditions or changes in the subject’s facial expression. In this study, we propose an authentication method that suppresses these effects by using thermal images for periocular recognition. We conducted recognition experiments using features obtained by deep learning in a database containing images on a database containing various conditions and compared the proposed method with conventional methods, and confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.
